I met Dee through Becky at Clear Creek Candle in 2008. I’d walked in for yet another night tea and local gossip. I was her secret shoulder to cry on as I’m not a local. I’d always felt entirely welcome and at peace within her domain. When Deanna walked into the main room, I knew I’d met someone special. She was openly friendly and generous but I’m slow to trust. She and I had chatted about the church ladies at the Darrington Methodist Church after I’d told my story of meeting Sandy and Merle’s daughter one snowy morning when God told me to pick her up. Through Becky and Dee, I grew to know more about most of the inhabitants than many but it was always interesting. Dee was my person. The only friend I had in Darrington that I could trust. She brought me a fifth of Jaeger at my wedding and we’d drunk it out in the parking lot together, both becoming staggeringly inebriated and giggling like school girls. I’m not sure how many of her clients came to her in pairs but my husband and I always had our weekly massages with her together, reading aloud and I can still hear her raucous laughter at the mischievous events in our latest books by Eric Ugland. We’d read the entire Game of Thrones series to her. We all laughed and cried together but the best part of our friendship is not all of the meals out at the Keg, Anthony’s or Lombardi’s or the mani/pedi appointments, but when she asked me to give her a massage. She knew I did things differently, carefully and my manipulation of her muscles in those thick, strong forearms of hers. If you know, you know. Her tiny feet would receive a half-hour massage with that wonderful CBD salve she’d buy for her clients and her hot stones. My husband and I are so grateful to know this wonderful woman for the past fifteen (15) years and it was not nearly long enough. Thank You, Heavenly Father, for allowing me the honor and privilege of visiting Dee in her tiny CCU room, massaging her head and hands, and just being there for her adoring husband, kneeling on the hard floor beside her and seeing her smile one last time. All who knew this incredible woman were Blessed.

Love to you all. Dee Dee was a lovely soul, and sincere and authentic healer in her role in many people’s lives who depended on her care. I am so sorry for all of you, I know you are hurting but know you also depend on faith to carry your hearts through this pain.
