Joyce Irene Lingenfelter Vanderslice September 15, 1946 - March 25, 2025

Joyce Irene Lingenfelter Vanderslice, 78, of Marysville, WA died peacefully on Tuesday March 25, 2025. Joyce was born in Reynoldsville (Winslow Township), PA on September 15, 1946 to Larry & Alice Lingenfelter. She was the oldest (and 2nd born) of 5 children and the family lived in Reynoldsville and Erie, PA while she was growing up. At the age of 12 years old, Joyce gave her life to God,
whom she loved above all else. And in 1965, she graduated from Strong Vincent High School, in Erie, PA.

On October 5, 1968, at the age of 22, Joyce married Fred (Frederick) Vanderslice. They lived in Virginia for 47 years before moving to Washington state to be near family for the last 10 years. During those 57 years, Joyce became a mother to three daughters and grandmother to six grandchildren and was affectionately known as Nana.

Joyce’s career was mostly in banking and office supply as a customer representative. She retired in November 2002 from Boise-Cascade Office Supply. But her life’s work, which she loved most, was being a wife and mom. For a few years while her girls were growing up, she operated an in-home daycare allowing her to be home with her girls and all of her special daycare babies. Joyce had a loving heart and cared deeply for others. She welcomed many young, single people into her “home away from home” where they could be fed home cooked meals, mothered, and loved on as they embarked into adulthood. She loved her parents and in-laws dearly and cared for them wonderfully in their last years. Joyce found great joy in sending cards and notes of love and encouragement to many through the years. All who knew her, knew she loved them.

She will be missed dearly by so many!

Joyce is preceded in death by her parents, Larry LeRoy and Alice Fye Lingenfelter, her older sister, Shirley Ann Lingenfelter, and her in-laws Edwin Carlyle and Marie Morris Vanderslice. She is survived by her husband of nearly 57 years, Frederick Carlyle Vanderslice; three daughters Melissa (William) Johnson, Alice M. Vanderslice, and Julie (Patience) Harirari; six grandchildren
Hannah Johnson, Lydia Johnson, Liam Johnson, Adam Johnson, Aidan Harirari, and Ascher Harirari; three siblings Virginia “Ginny” Brown, Larry “Rick” (Terry) Lingenfelter, and Janet(Stanley) Pool; sister-in-law Sandra “Sandy” (Glenn Phillips) Vanderslice; and many nephews, nieces, and grand-nephew and nieces.

Joyce’s favorite Bible verse gave her much courage and solace in her life. And may it do the same for all who knew and loved her.
Psalm 116:1 “ I love the LORD because He hath heard my voice and my supplications.
