We did not have many opportunities to meet. I wish that we could have spent more time together, but we both know that it was neither of our decisions that determined that.
I wouldn’t say that any of the memories I have with you would be spectacular by general definition or opinion, but they were spectacular to me. I can still hear your joyful laughter, and still feel you holding me. You were a consistent reminder that life was bigger than what I could see, that it was warmer than what I could touch, that it was more colourful than what I could imagine. You treated me kindly, gently and with the most basic compassion and respect. I had and still have precious few people in my life who have ever extended me that courtesy.
Thank you for annually being one of the most positive thing in my life for those years. I miss you, and wish for you to have found something enlightening and beautiful beyond us. Fair winds, Russ.
