It is with great sadness that the family of Barbara Susan Christenson of Arlington, Washington announces her passing after a brief battle with cancer on Friday July 14th, 2023 at the age of 69 years.
“Barb” as she was affectionately known, was born in Seattle, Washington on January 11th, 1954 to Donald and Evangeline Binzer. Barb will be lovingly remembered by her husband of 44 years, Chris, and her three children: Susan, Jeffrey, and Robert. Barb will also be fondly remembered by her four grandchildren Bailey, Gabriel, Hudson, and Nash, her son in law Michael, and her daughter in law Kristina. Barb is survived by her sister Patricia (nieces Jennifer, Jamie, Jenell, and Jody May) and her brother Richard.
No one who met Barb could resist her passion for life and kindness. Barb loved helping and taking care of others and followed this passion and became a nurse. This is where she met her best friend and admiring husband, Chris. Chris worked security at the hospital walking nurses to their vehicles at night for their protection and had started a conversation with Barb because they both drove a Ford Mustang.
Five years later in 1979, they were married and bought themselves a home in Shoreline, Washington. Barb thought highly of her husband and was very proud to be the wife of a police officer. Soon after having children, Barb retired from nursing to devote her time to raising their children. She never missed an event with any of the kids and was forever their biggest cheerleader.
Barb always pushed her family to succeed and never grew tired of lending a helping hand to any of them whenever possible. She became passionate about cooking and baking and spent most of her free time outside with her gardens.
As she grew older and her children started having families of their own, her grandchildren gave her a new purpose. She cherished every moment with them.
In 2012, Chris and Barb bought their dream home in Arlington, Washington. They settled into retired life together and created a paradise of their own.
Barb was a very kind, gentle, and simple woman which made it very easy for her to make many lifelong friends. She was loved by all and the memories of her will be cherished greatly by those who knew her.
