We are sad to announce the passing of Dale Hartwig. He passed November 4, 2021 of lung cancer at his residence on Camano Island. He was surrounded by people who loved him. He is survived by his mother Priscilla, his daughter Jenea, his son Josh, his grandchildren Jake, Jaiydn, and Rosemary, his Sadie kitty and a shit ton of other friends and family whom he loved and that love and miss him. He retired from Watson asphalt where he worked as an operating engineer for 27 years. Some of you knew him as ” The Dink” but I had the privilege of calling him Dad. My dad was a man of many talents and interests. He loved fishing, woodworking, gardening, and to hunt for crystals and geodes. He was smart and a gifted engineer. He was happiest holding a fishing pole, eating a good steak or seafood. He saw the beauty in thing’s and appreciated it. He loved to see people having fun. There was no sitting around at dad’s house, we were always on an adventure. I know he’s at peace now… probably reeling in a big one even as I write this. He was a unique and special man, charismatic and witty. He touched the lives of so many, those that knew him were blessed. My dad often communicated through music so I leave this tribute with words for him from cold play ” nobody said it was easy, it’s such a shame for us to part, nobody said it was easy, no one ever said it would be this hard, oh take me back to the start.” And words from him to us, by Eddie Vedder ” leave it to me as I find a place to be, consider me a satellite forever orbiting, I knew all the rules but the rules did not know me guaranteed.
There’s a Facebook group ” In memory of Dale Hartwig “
