It is with great sadness, we share the passing of Douglas Paul Barnes on November 7, 2024 at age 71.
Born to James Barnes and Afton Miller Barnes on October 13, 1953 in Los Angeles, Doug spent his childhood in Southern California. There, he met the love of his life, Nancy Roberts. They were married in 1979 and went on to have two sons.
He spent much of his life working in the aeronautic manufacturing industry, first for Lockheed in California, then relocating to Washington to work at Boeing. Before her death, he and wife Nancy owned and ran The Game Outlet, a successful video game store in Marysville that solidified the family’s shared love of gaming. He had many hobbies, but a true passion for music. Playing his guitars- whether in rock bands, worship groups, or just playing along with “The Greats” on youtube- brought him great joy. He was also a creative and talented cook, always seeking to improve on a recipe. He loved the outdoors, especially fishing and camping, and always jumped at a chance to head for the mountains.
Doug was preceded in death by his parents and his beloved wife, Nancy.
He is survived by his sons- Dustin and his wife, Molly of Seattle, WA and Robert and his wife, Daniela of Surprise, AZ, as well as four grandchildren.
Private services will be held for immediate family.
