Janet “Mandy” A. Glunt, age 83, of Arlington, Washington, passed away peacefully at her home on June 20, 2024. She is now resting in peace with her Savior.
Born on November 13, 1940, in Carlisle, Pennsylvania, Janet was the daughter of the late Harvey Sampson and Beatrice Clever. From the day she was born, Janet was affectionately known as “Mandy,” a nickname given by her doctor who remarked she looked like a little Mandy.
Janet is survived by her loving husband of 61 years, Kenneth Glunt; her son, Bryon Glunt (Melissa); her daughters, April Soper (Tony) and Cindy Mahama; her brother, Michael Clever; her sisters, Margaret Fagan, Sue Geyer, Marie Keller, Helen Leer, and Nola Ramos; her grandchildren, Bryson Daggett (Annie), Kenzie Moran, and Andreas Mahama; and her great-grandchildren, Finley, Blake, and Maverick.
In 1960, Janet and Ken met through a friend in Pennsylvania. After dating for two and a half years, they were married on November 25, 1962. Their journey together took them to Washington in 1966, where they started their family. They briefly returned to Pennsylvania in 1969 before deciding to permanently settle back in Washington in the spring of 1971. In 1976, Janet and Ken found spiritual solace at Grace Baptist Church in Marysville and embraced Christianity together.
Janet’s family was the center of her world, and she found immense joy in her grandchildren. She was known for her kind-hearted and loving nature, always prioritizing the needs of others over her own. Her legacy of love and kindness will continue to inspire all who had the privilege of knowing her.
Janet was a devoted member of the First Baptist Church of Arlington for many years until her health prevented regular attendance. She dedicated 41 years of service to Pacific Grinding Wheel/Radiac Abrasives Inc before retiring in November 2018.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to Seattle Children’s Hospital in Janet’s name as a gift of remembrance.
A memorial service to celebrate Janet’s life will be held on Sunday, July 21, 2024, at 4:00 PM at the First Baptist Church of Arlington, 426 N French Ave, Arlington, WA 98223.
