Margaret Adeline Smith passed away peacefully July 25 2024 in Marysville, WA. Born in Great Falls, MT to May and Herman Nebel in September 1930, she married Dale Smith in 1949. They moved to Port Townsend, WA and had 4 children, moved to Anacortes, then to Lake Stevens in 1960. Margaret worked as secretary to superintendent Don Christenson for many years, until his retirement. Margaret was a woman of great faith and strength of character. Margaret was active in the community: as a member of the Lions Club where she was named Lion of the Year; as part of the Aquafest committee, where she was instrumental in organizing the Children’s Parade for many years; at Elim Lutheran church, where she was an active member and taught Sunday school for decades. She was named Lake Stevens’s Person of the Year, and was Grand Marshall of the Aquafest parade. Margaret was a good friend, always willing to help anyone in need, and was beloved by many. She loved children, and delighted in spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was a remarkable and loving person, who made a difference to everyone around her, and will be missed dearly. She was preceded in death by her son Steve, husband Dale; sisters Dolores, Betty, and Judy, brothers Carl (Buddy) and Milton.
She is survived by her twin sister Marcella; children Ellen, Laura, and Stan; 9 grandchildren, 7 great-grandchildren, and one great-great granddaughter.
