Marian Jean Hoem, 83, of Everett, WA, passed away peacefully on the morning of Sunday, April 16, 2023, at Providence Hospital in Everett surrounded by her children.
Marian is preceded in death by her husband, Gary Hoem; siblings: Clinton Eckman, Owen Eckman, and Ron Eckman; and parents Naomi Eckman and Louis Eckman. She is survived by her children: Michael Burress (Teresa), William Burress (Darnell), John Burress (Bonnie), Robert Burress (Pam), and Laura Gagnon (Gary); her siblings: Carroll Eckman (Arlene), Jim Eckman (Jean), Larry Eckman (Judee), Joyce Erickson (Jim), and Patty Frame (Keith); and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Marian was the love of her husband, Gary’s, life; he referred to her as his “angel.” They both loved to travel to Reno and Vegas, but genuinely enjoyed traveling to Minnesota to visit family. When Gary became ill, Marian stayed by his side and lovingly cared for him every day until his passing.
Anyone who knew Marian knows that she was a crossword and competitive cribbage enthusiast. She also loved Maya Angelou’s poetry and often talked about her rainbow in the clouds. A bit of a poet herself, she often drafted poems inspired by events in her life.
A private interment will be held on June 14, 2023, and a celebration of life will take place on August 19, 2023, in Arlington, WA. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation in Marian’s memory to the Alzheimer’s Association.
