Richard “Rick” John Simacek passed away peacefully in his home on Wednesday, September 25, 2024 in Arlington, WA. He was 80 years old. Rick was born on December 9, 1943 in Bremerton, Washington to Jerry and Mabel Simacek. He was raised in North Seattle where he attended school and graduated from Ingraham High School. Rick met Sylvia Alfstad in the 3rd grade and they began dating in high school. They were married on September 3, 1964.
Rick served in the United States Army from 1966 until 1968. He was sent to Vietnam and earned the National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, Vietnam Campain Medal, and The Army Commendation Medal. After Vietnam, he returned to the United States and eventually moved to Issaquah, Washington where he and Sylvia raised their 3 sons. As a family, they enjoyed fishing, hiking, traveling to Hawaii, and many other outdoor activities.
Rick was preceded in death by his beloved wife Sylvia. He is survived by his sons Jon Simacek of Arlington, WA, Stephen and Mandy Simacek of Black Diamond, WA, Victor Simacek of Grayland, WA; 3 grandsons; Noah, Alex, and Ethan Simacek, his dog Frank, and a host of extended family and friends. Rick will be remembered for his creativity, his willingness to help others, and his joy in reminiscing about the past.
