Walter AKA “Joey” Mahany lV, 33, passed away on January 1,2024 as a result of a long battle with depression. Joey was born on October 21,1990 in Houston,Texas to Gloria L. Rodriguez and Walter J.Mahany lll. Joey grew up in New Orleans, Louisiana. He attended Rudolph Matas Elementary School and TH Harris Middle School where he met his lifelong friends, who became his family. He received his GED and attended Delgado Community College to become a surgical technician.
Joey spent the last year and a half of his life in Lake Stevens, Washington with his mom and step-father, Robert J.Martina.Joey loved his job at Coffee and Cone in Kirkland,WA. and was looking forward to the busy summer season scooping ice cream, making coffee and snowballs.
Joey is survived by his parents, Gloria Lynn Rodriguez and Walter Joseph Mahany lll. His step-fathers, Robert Joseph Martina and Theodore Isaac Deitch. He is also survived by his half sister, Cara Ann Mahany. His paternal grandmothers, Ann Martin Mahany and Angela McIntosh.
His maternal grandparents, Victor Manuel Rodriguez and Maria Linda Rodriguez.
He is preceded in death by his paternal grandfather, Richard Eugene Mahany. His Aunt Kimberly Nicole Vandrell, whom he cherished, and his Uncle Victor Manuel Rodriguez lll. Joey had many Aunts, Uncles, and cousins. His friends were his brothers and sisters that he loved unconditionally.
Funeral arrangements are being handled by Funeral Alternatives in Marysville, WA. A service will be held on Monday, January 22,2024 at 4 PM at

Family dinner following to celebrate that we were able to eat a family dinner every single night with Joey (he really enjoyed that).
In the near future we will take Joey home to New Orleans, Louisiana to celebrate his life with his family and friends at home. Thank you to everyone for loving Joey, my son. He was my heart and my life. We are forever grateful for all the donations, love, support and prayers.
